It was great ,unforgetable day in the history of Free and Open Source Software in Tanzania, as we celebrated Software freedom Day 2012. With VIPs around, Participants from the media, academics, business world, lawyers, software developoers, hackers present in the venue…! some from outside the
country , Germany, Canada, Finland, Kenya, what a re-union? i met my
former schoolmate who came all the way from Arusha, Mwanza, Zanzibar,

Nairobi had a series of SFD activities planned.
The first was student challenge which was organised on 31st August at Strathmore University. During this day a number of students made presentation on IT projects that they have developed or are currently working on that are based on FOSS.
A number of interesting projects were demonstrated.

ict@innovation has been running successfully for the past four years.
Look what ict@innovation has achieved so far. Today, we have
111 trainers on Business Models and 69 on certification,
Over 300 members on the FBT mailing list and more than 150 on the LPI mailing list
750 individual members and 500 FOSS-related organisations registered on the ict@innovation websiteAs the GIZ-funded phase of the project is coming to an end, the project management team is finding new ways to make sure that ict@innovation will continue to be managed after 2012.

Day 2 of Linux Essential classe at InCo Lab in Dar es Salaam

A long waited Linux Essential class has kicked-off on 30th June 2012 in Dar es Salaam with 12 out 20 students reporting. The classes will last for not more than six weeks.
