This course is an introduction to the business use of Open Source Software. It is expected to attract students who have entrepreneurial skills but are financially constrained. Alternatives to business software will be presented and business models to adopt when using Open Source Software are presented.
This course will make use of the African FOSS Business Syllabus i.e.
Modules 1, 4 and 5. The modules will be modified to produce a single module suitable to University students in Nigeria.
 The training will be classroom based. It is expected that participants will be able to

  • identify Open source software that perform the same function as proprietary software
  • Write business plans for their open source software
  • adopt the most suitable open source business model for their venture
