Why train as a Linux System Admin?
It is well know that GNU/Linux administration has become so important that it is hard to imagine any organization surviving without an experienced and well trained admin. The employability of a Linux admin is as high as 85% in the IT industry. For Sub-Saharan Africa, we are beginning to rely on empirical data to inform our understanding that 43.18% (N=88) of FOSS users use a GNU/Linux distribution as a server and 34.09% use a GNU/Linux distro (e.g. Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora, etc.) for network management and system administration. The rest of the statics paints an interesting picture when FOSSDeva survey participants were asked "Which of the following describes how you use a Linux distribution?":

As a desktop environment =    84.09%
As a server = 43.18%
For developing web-based applications =36.36%
As a (web) hosting platform = 32.95%
For learning purpose (how Linux works) = 51.14%
For training (teaching) purpose = 42.05%
For graphics and gaming= 18.18%
Manage windows-based applications = 19.32%
For Network management and System Administration = 34.09%
Other = 7.95%
